| Baypamun® is an immunity modulator recommended as prophylactic and therapeutic use. In the present study, this product was used in the hamsters experimentally infected with Leptospira interrogans serogroup canicola. The animals were divided in 5 groups, with 20 animals each. This product was used as a therapeutic, prophylactic and as adjuvant. As a therapeutic use all the animals died. Despite of eight (40.0%) survivors, the prophylactic use wasn't also totally favorable due to leptospire recovering from kidneys of those animals. Based on the analysis of antibodies levels among animals that received vaccine and vaccine with Baypamun® as adjuvante, this product didn't conferred superior humoral answer. | The present study aimed to diagnose early embryonic death in 128 mares. Blood samples were collected at the 4th, 7th, 10th, 13th, 16th, 19th, 21st and 30th day after ovulation and the diameter of the corpus luteum was measured. The diameter and characteristics of the embryonic vesicle were evaluated by ultrasonography. Microbiology, cytology and histopathology were carried out in mares with embryonic death. Plasma oestrogen and progesterone concentration were measured by radioimmunoassay. From 128 mares, 17 (13.28%) showed early embryonic death. The embryonic losses took place at 19 days of pregnancy in 47.05% and at 21 days of pregnancy in 29.4% of the mares. | Faecal samples of 106 buffalo calves aged 3 to 45 days were collected sequentially, once a week, during six weeks for parasitologic examination. For bacteriologic and virologic exams, faecal samples were collected from all diarrhoeic and the same amount on non-diarrhoeic calves. Blood samples from calves were collected at 3 to 10 days of age for serum IgG determination. Eimeria spp, Strongyloides papillosus and Toxocara vitulorum were the most common parasites. E. coli, Enterobacter cloacae and Klebsiella pneumoniae were the enteropathogens most frequently found (alone or in association with other microrganisms). | This study was performed considering the public health hazards related to the elimination of mycobacteria through milk of dairy cows suspected or positive for tuberculosis presenting no clinical alterations. A total of 780 milk samples from 52 animals, positive or suspected for tuberculosis, according to Stormont's test, were analysed to detect Mycobacterium spp. The samples consisted of 300 ml/cow, collected in the first milking of the day, during 15 days. Frozen samples were sent to the laboratory, inoculated in Löwenstein-Jensen with reduced glicerol (0.5%) and Stonebrink media and kept under 37ºC for at least 90 days. | Foram avaliados pela reação de imunofluorescência indireta (RIFI) para detecção de anticorpos-IgG anti-Toxoplasma, soros de 191 gatos de 3 diferentes municípios do Estado de São Paulo e um município do Estado do Paraná, enviados ao Serviço de Diagnóstico de Zoonoses, da Faculdade de Medicina Veterinária e Zootecnia, UNESP, Campus de Botucatu. Destes animais, 56 (29,3%) possuíam raça definida e 135 (70,7%) sem raça definida (SRD), sendo 88 (46,1%) fêmeas e 103 (53,9%) machos, com idades variando de dois meses a dezoito anos.
